Nippon Exhaust falling apart on me...
Some of you might remember at the beginning of the month that my passenger side exhaust hanger weld broke (Nippon Autosport Exhaust).
Well, yesterday morning I discovered that my driver side exhaust casing was hanging pretty low. Sure enough...the hanger weld broke! I removed the exhaust casing to get a better look...both hanger welds on the exahaust case were cracked.
Sheesh...

MHK S2000,
The craftmanship is good:
The welds on the exhaust are done very clean and they look very sturdy. the metal used on the exhaust tip were polished to a great shine...and all the peices have a quality fit.
The design might not be so great:
To go into detail...it's not the weld that actually breaks/cracks...it's the area that the hanger is welded to that acutally breaks. The hangers on the Nippon exhaust (closest to the tip) are welded on to the "rim" of the exhuast casing:

That "rim" isn't too strong...in fact, the rim is cyllindrical and hollow. As of now...3 out of 4 hanger to exhaust case weld areas have cracked. What Nippon should have done was weld the hanger to the exhaust casing in two areas...or weld the hanger to the exhaust "rim" in two areas...much like how the J's racing and Mugen hangers are attached:
