...and I'm tired Man, this is not a one man job. It is easiest to take the hangers off the post attached to the car (vs exhaust) when removing the stock system. With out Mobile 1 synthetic lubricant. WD40 or the likes, you can do nothing with the rubber exhaust hangers. Hang all the parts to the Nippon first, then bolt together. The Nippon has adjustable sleeves to allow fine tuning of tip alignment. My system came with no instructions. I'm decently mechanically inclined and it's not rocket science so I soldered on. I had to tweak the adjustable sleeve on the drivers side to get the tip to line up just right. I also have a rattle from the bolt on the adjustable sleeve on the passengers side hitting a piece of the suspension over bumps. Tomorrow I'll loosen that sleeve and rotate the clamp so that it won't strike the suspension anymore. I only had a chance to drive it around the block a little. In the brief time I drove it went form slightly quieter than stock to slightly louder than stock with a cool low level "brrrr" to it. I also noticed a pronounced resonance (boom) from 1,500 to 2,000 rpm. Not that big a deal since I spend no time there, but you do pass through it when coming to a stop. Also, man does it STINK. My muffler's are smoking slightly too. Between the exhaust being new and the dust etc settled from shipping/installing I figure it is normal, I just hope it goes away fast.

The car does respond quicker, building revs below 6Krpm noticeably quicker. I'll try to G-Tech it and compare to my previous results to see if it has a measurable effect. I will also be taking a few mpg's of the system in and out of the car over the weekend.

Congrats SilverS2K,

1.I'dont have the resonance.
2.the sound does get a bit louder afther some time
3.Yes it really stinks, but now it's only when i'm really pushing the car(9k revs through all gears),i've got 700km with the Nippon. The reason for the smell is the black thing that's on the mufflers.(my guess)

Happy with it ?
BTW your links are broken.

I also got the Nippon exhaust but let the dealer mess with installation and alignment. IMO the exhaust is a very nice modification for people who like stainless steel over the chromed stock exhaust tips and prefer a slightly deeper exhaust note. There are no huge differences in performance or sound on my car but its a nice addition anyways.
Don't worry about the terrible stink. I was shocked too that the exhaust develops such a terrible smell when new but it fades away after a few hundred kilometers and is gone for good then .

Thanks guys. I noticed the resonance to be a little more mellowed out by the time I got to work today. The only time it would have the potential really bother me is in slow moving traffic. The driver side tip is still too high and to the outside of the car (though I had tweaked it, guess it was too dark to notice). The passenger side is centered. Any tips on shifting the driver side tip over?

(P.S. The links are correct, but tripod appears to be having issues)

Ha ha, yeah its mostly held on by solder. That's how you put it together right, I didn't have any instructions

Or perhaps I soldiered on. "Spell checker can't save you now!"

Quick update: I found and eliminated the rattle. It wasn't the clamp bolt next to the suspension member. That one was contacting rubber (I rotated it anyway). The rattle was coming from the clamp bolt on the y pipe HITTING THE BASE OF THE HALF SHAFT! Oops I rotated it and it is no longer an issue. My advice to Nippon installers is to rotate all the clamps so that the nuts are facing down (90 deg) prior to install. Its easier to access for tweaking tip position and eliminates the potential for contact w/the rest of the car. I also evened out the drivers side tip.

I really like the look of the car w/the Nippon system on. The tips are slightly ovular (squashed to be wider horizontally) and cut back at a slight angle (top farther out than bottom). It's very subtle but adds a nice touch. The system sounds very similar to stock. Just a little louder and a little deeper a tone superimposed over the normal stock sound. The idle is neat, it kind of pulses (only noticed this from outside and behind the car). Not for people looking for loud or different sounds.

I'll load up various media (sound and picture) over the weekend after I straighten out my tripod account. They revoked me since I was only using it to store and link my media (vs having home pages etc).

Silver S2K,

I just intalled mine yesterday. It didn't take me too long because I was using my friend's body shop lift. The fit is good and I love the adjustable/telescoping parts so you can get the perfect fit.

Just like Pancho said...the exhaust doesn't sound to different from stock above 3-4 K rpms...just a bit deeper.

Below 3k rpm's they exhaust has a nice low pitch purr to it...I love it.

I'll post install pictures monday!
