I'd expect Honda to stay in the sports car/roadster arena for several years. Just about every manufacturer is involved or will be in the next couple of years, and for Honda, which has a leading product in its range and a long history of racing, not have a sports car, sounds improbable. Just as Honda has finally got it's F1 act together and their IRL and motorcycle racing in 1st place, the sports car segment is a strong one, and Honda can't afford to be left out.

The NSX got dated and when HSC comes out, there will renewed interest and the HSC will be the segment leader. I'd expect the next generation of Honda roadsters to lighter, faster, more advanced and probably have SMG tranmissions.

Honda/Acura's Response to HSC news item

We asked some of our contacts at Acura PR about the significance of the Automobile magazine news item and they responded with the following comments:

"While it is still too early to provide details on the next NSX, we can say that we are committed to the model and will ultimately offer a replacement. The HSC shown in Detroit and Tokyo was a concept of the direction the next NSX could take."
