No Offense to the Ladies...
I was reading another post about how guys are seeing some really nice cars in the Bay Area. One guy said his girlfriend mentioned that an F40 was a "cute" car. Is it just me or do some of you other guys get a little irked when girls refer to your S2k's as being "cute?" I guess this is their way of complementing it but I hate to think that I'm driving around in a "cute" car, especially when that same word is used to describe babies and puppies in sweaters. Maybe for something like Miata, but when you've got 240hp and 0-60 in the 5's, I'd hardly consider that cute. I was really irked when a female friend got in and said "hey, this would make a great chick car". ...arghh!!!
Hey, then again, maybe its just me

When I got my car women though it was cute now they all hate the car because they think it looks to agressive. (with wing and all mods done check out Jan. wildest car) I love it the best when it eats up a Mustang GT or some other car that thinks he's the $hit!! Then again I only drive the car on weekends
the topic of the stook being 'cute' has been recurring every few months - it does happen. I have a miata too, so...I occassionally get accused to driving a chick car or a chick type of car. Regardless, the stook and the Miata, they are both fun cars to drive.
And if they say its cute... well, do they want to take a ride? <g>
But the F40 - remember, not everyone has an eye for cars. Not everyone knows that it turns 201 mph. Not everyone knows why you'd want to buy a Ferrari. Look at it this way, not many people know what a Mont Blanc is - nor care to. So, whether its a car, a watch, a pen, or even some other kind of gadget - like a computer for the most part (not where I live!) - not everyone can tell the difference between quality and craftsmanship. But then again...that's why some people get all excited when they go up to the dealership and get a Daewoo...or something of the like.

When my girlfriend said that she thinks it's cute, I told her that was sacrilege. Then a female friend of mine said it looked like a Z3, and I said you obviously haven't seen them enough or you wouldn't have said something like that!
Hmmmm a Mont Blanc what could that be maybe a ink pen? Wow that's right!! I have 3 of them. Some people take it as just a pen. I'm only 20 but I know taste and the Z3 thing I get that all the time. Idiots asking if it's a Z3???? Ya have to know what it is before saying anything, gosh it has a Honda emblem on the car for crying out loud.

Next time tell her to get a vocabulary.

I hate it when my s2000 is refered by anything else other than what it is. And there's no bigger insult to me than refering to it as a Miata. Not that there's anything wrong with Miata's but an entry level roadster should never be compared with the s2000. So when my friends in VW's ask how's my Miata, I then ask them "What's the matter, Honda was out of accords?" VW owners hate that just as much.
My wife had never seen an S2000 until she drove me to the dealer to pick mine up. When she saw it she gave it a very enthusiastic "cute!" I'm just glad she liked it...
BTW, my 5.5 year old son was with us too (he's a serious car nut). He went literally speechless when he saw the car. He seemed to go into a trance until about 15 minutes later when I was signing the papers and he said, "Dad, that car is really sharp". When we got home he said it again and added, "don't ever get it dirty or drive it in the rain". Good advice. (I bought him the Autoart S2000 model).
Anyway, girls and guys certainly have different emotions and ways of relating to and expressing what they like. I wouldn't take too much offense at the endearing term 'cute', at least when used by a woman.

When I first got my car a sweet young thing walked up and opined that the stook was "cute". She then asked if it was the new del Sol Convertible! And, hey, it's not only girls. I got a ticket last year and the cop wrote Civic on the ticket under "type of vehicle".
