Default noobie S2000 questions.

sup s2ki. new to s2ks and have a few questions. 2002 BB AP1.

engine removal. can i take the engine and transmission through the top easily?

yes, and no. head removal is a must to perfrom the removal from the top.

suspension alignment. are the oem parts good enough to handle a 1.5-2.0 inch drop?

oem parts are good enough to adjust camber on normal drops and specs.

my parking light do not work, are there any? they come as turn signals....

bulbs may be burnt out...

are ap1 and ap2 mounting points for the exhaust(s) the same? (new question) upgrading the rear bumper since it looks nice with a rear diffuser.

exhaust hangers between ap1 and ap2 do differ slightly.

I'm a semi noob when it comes to working on the S2000, but I've got a ton of swaps under my belt, mostly in Nissan land (rb25's/SR20's/stock KA24e/de) into 240sx's. That being said:

1) I don't see why not. Might be a little bit of a squeeze but that's gonna happen regardless.

2) Sure. From what I've read though a lot of people do the cv boot swap or spacers on lowered cars if they have vibration under acceleration. I'm dropped at least 1.5-2" and have no issues short of my rear diffuser rubbing here and there. Fix DIY can be found here: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/241...diy-with-pics/

3) I'm guessing you mean the sidemarkers? Mine light up on use of turn signal. Not sure if there is a way to make them stay on....assuming that's what you are going for.

Again, other than question 2, take what I said with a grain of salt. May be right, may be way off.

You can just re wire your side markers if you want them to stay on

Engine removal through the top with transmission attached can ONLY be done if you have the head off the engine. There is not enough room no matter how hard you try with the head still on. It's really just easier to drop the tranny out the bottom and pull out the fully assembled motor from the top.

^^^ what stops the motor from coming out? The hood? Couldn't you just take it off? I'm just curious.

No its the fact that the head is so close to the fire wall and the engine and trans are too long to tilt enough without the valve cover hitting the fire wall. Just much easier to drop the trans.

If only it was as simple as removing the hood or propping it in the higher position......it's not. As stated, the head and valve cover will mash into the firewall as there isn't enough forward space to move the assembly out of the way. I promise you, it won't work, no matter how hard you try, no matter if you have a lift, or if you're doing it on the ground.....only if the head is off.

thanks for the tips...! (should have been more specific on the last two questions, oh and i have one more questoin. )

engine removal: i'll drop the motor/tranny to the floor and lift the chassis by the support with the engine hoist. that should give me enough room if i can make a 4 wheel dolly big and low enough.

suspension alignment: i haven't seen any aftermarket kit for camber and whatnot. what i really meant to ask is, "are any after market kits needed for the street?"

parking lights: yes, the amber lights in my headlight housing only come on when i use my turn signals. i will switch them out to see if that's the problem.

one more question: the motor has 142,xxx miles on it. what is it worth? ap1 2002, still pulls but the worn out clutch gives up in higher rpms...
