Is this normal?
I have a brand new s2k with 1700 miles and have not driven it hard except now and then a few v-techs. If I v-tech on a straight away when the road isn't perfectly dry, the back end pulls over. I want to say the rear always pulls to the drivers side (I am alone so better traction?). I have never felt like I have lost control as I am slowly trying to get the feel of the car. I anticipate this to occur but when it should happen is the question.
I debate if the car needs an alignment as I remember a few people state in these forums that the factory doesn't do a good job at alignments. The counter argument is this performance is normal because RWD + 240hp + SO2 tires + not perfect road = back end sliding.
Earlier in my life I had driven rear wheel drive but don't remember this happening except in snow (good analogy?). Then again didn't have a car nearly as powerful as the s2k.
Thanks in advance for any input

Does the car give any indication of pulling to one side under accelleration when the road is dry? If so, check your tire pressures. If not, don't rule out the possibility that you may need an alignment. Many people have found that the alignment from the factory is not exactly "optimal".
Also, running this car hard in the rain is not such a good idea. Bad things happen quickly in this car.
And yeah... VTEC is the acronym you were looking for. "v-tech" has nothing to do with this car. Read your owner's manual, there's lots more useful information in there (probably including the fact that your car is equipped with S-03s, not S-02s). There's a pop quiz on Friday.

Since my car is a garage queen, I've been trying to take it out at least every other week to warm her up and drive the car around for a bit. It almost always includes one full WOT from 1st to 2nd. I noticed the last time I did it, it was about 45 degrees out, and the roads were slightly wet from snow melting. I had been driving for about 15 minutes before I did it and on a hard WOT shift from 1 to 2 the car's backend pulled to the driver's side slightly. Not enough to lose control but noticeable. The car quickly regained traction though.
All the other times I've taken the car out its been pretty dry and well above 50 degrees, and I've never had a problem. I'd imagine the water and the cold played a part in my experience. You said it wasn't cold out, but I'm not sure how cold is cold to you. Anything below 45-50 degrees and I think the rubber on the summer tires are going to be a lot harder and you'll have significantly less traction then normal.
If you're very worried about it, and especially if it starts doing it in warm dry weather I'd start looking for potential problems. Air pressure is an easy place to start, but it could also be an alignment problem.

When it is below about 45 F and the tires are cold and I get into VTEC and shift pretty quickly the backend will shift sideways in MY 04 probably about a foot or two. So when the tires aren't warm I have to feather the throttle after I let the clutch out and it aleiveates the sideways move. Just be patient with the gas and let the tires warm up and you shouldn't have this problem unless you want it, it is kind of fun.
