Every time my car sits for more than 2 days and I start it it stalls.
Today I realized this might happen, so when I started it, as soon as it started to stall I hit the gas.
When I backed the car out of the garage after this I drove thru a big cloud of grey-blue smoke.
My car has 4200 miles on it and I have already gone thru 2 quarts of oil.
Anyone else had these kind of problems?

2 quarts seems a bit high. Drop by the dealership. Tell them whats happening just to make them aware. You might see if they can listen for what sounds like a valve tapping or to check the spark plugs for fowling. If so they might want to take a bore-o-scope to check out the fouled plugs cylinders.

I only used 1/2-3/4 of a quart for the first 4,500 miles. Every car breaks in differently. Hope it all turns out well for you.

BTW: After 10,000 miles the engine tightened up and dosent use a bit of oil runs faster, smoother, more efficient than ever. 26,000+ on the tach.

When the engine is cold, you should keep the clutch in for a minute after starting. The additional load from letting out the clutch is enough to cause the engine to stall, and the ECU does not correct for this at startup. Hope that helps.

They are not all that way. Although I have had my share of problems in 10K miles, mine does not stall on cold start and has never used oil.

Anybody who seems to be having excessive oil consumption needs to let the dealer know. I have also notified the Regional National Customer Relations of this problem as well.

I just got my Stook back from repairs to the #4 cylinder, I drove it 230 miles and used over 2 quarts of oil. It is back in the shop so we will see, I was going to start a new thread, but I think my comments here will be good enough.

I have not had any problems with starting my car in the cold or after sitting for a couple days. The blue smoke certainly would get my attention and have me checking with the dealer/service as to what's up. Listen for a slight tapping noise, normally faint to moderate, if your stook is doing this I would definately have them check the car.

Honda has put the blame on the #4 cylinder problem in a couple of the case as lake of oil. I know in the case of Barry WY and myself we can guarentee that was not the case. I think we need to let Honda know our concerns, especially the oil consumption and #4 cylinder problem. I believe that will be the only way they will start looking into it.

Mine only stalls on the rare occasions that my girlfriend drives it

j/k

I do get a different situation where the idle return is very low... for example, backing up, and putting the car in neutral, the revs drop down below 500, a little noise, then the idle stabilizes... minor annoyance...

I could see how if this item that controls the idle was defective, it could lead to stalling. My Sentra SE-R had something called an Idle Air Control valve, and I really learned to enjoy that little piece of equipment after I put the SDS Racetech programmable fuel system on it.

Lost the IACV and so the car would idle high when cold, low when hot, and wouldnt idle up when the A/C was turned on...

damn, the things I did to get a turbo SE-R

I too have had the car die on a cold start...but only if I release the clutch too quickly after starting or do anything which drains power. (windows for example)

I notice some smoke and a bad ether like smell after the first start, but only when its cold. I don't believe the smoke is anything but condensation in the exhaust and it goes away after the car warms up.

I haven't noticed oil usage, but honestly I've only put maybe 50 miles on it over the winter. I'm using Mobil 1 synthetic at around 4300 miles.

Someone should record the various BAD engine sounds and post an MP3 of them.

I also have no problems with starts after sitting or when cold... I usually back out of the garage w/o hitting the throttle, just using the choke.
