I believe I've done rears about every 10k.

Except for occasional bursts of VTEC, I usually drive like everybody's grandmother. Despite that, I went through three sets of rear tires in about 40,000 miles. It is just the nature of the basic design, and the characteristics of high performance summer tires. For what it's worth, I am still on the original disk pads.

Alignment can have a big affect on wear on the tires as well.

Many people have no intention of keeping the car after 3 years. These same people have little inclination to maintain the car since all problems will be transfered to a future owner. for this reason, I would insist that all maintaince done on the vehicle be documented. If you can find a car that has a relatively clean in cabin filter and of course a clean airfilter you at least have a start.
The flip side is that just as many people DO take care of their autos and this is usually evident in the cleanliness and the condition of the paint. All dents and dings should have been taken care of by the current /previous owner and not the used car dealer that may be selling the car. Just a few things to ponder.

Always take the car to get the alignment checked if buying used from a non Honda dealer. If you are buying it from a Honda used car dealer, the alignment should have been checked.

There are plenty of tire brands out there that last just as long as the oem tires if not longer, but are way cheaper in price. And it depends on how you drive your car, more agressive more tire wear...

As for brake pads, I just replaced the original pads at 63k...

The SO2's on the AP1 have a wear index of 140. Rears typically last 12-15k miles, fronts usually twice that. Since you didn't state what year car you were looking at, I don't know if this is relevant or not.
