Default NOS = Harmful To Your Engine/Car...

Can somebody dispel this rumor for me?

Every one person I talk to says it's not harmful to the engine if it's set up right, and the next person says it'll screw with your engine in bad ways...

Does anyone have a definitive answer?

Take a loot at this sight. http://www.zex.com/support/Questions/NitrousOxide.asp
Or take a look at
http://www.nosnitrous.com/HiOctn/ProdLine/.../NOS/index.html
I have had NOS in a Toyota (22R) as well as on a Ford (302) never had any problems with them both. But with the S2000 compression ratio, I'm not sure I want to mess with it. But this way you can be the judge.

At best it causes premature wear. At worst you'll "hole" the piston. Harmful? Yes. Would I do it? No. The most horsepower and fun for the cheapest price. Definitely!

What happened to those shots of the guy who blew his car AND his garage up with a nitrous setup. He was running a dry shot, I believe and pretty much obliterated his car and garage. Amazing shots...

jschmidt said it best here, though...

The only way I would even think to touch this stuff is if I was prepared to put all new internals in the motor at some point in the near to mid term. Would be fun, until you start blowing the pistons and rods out the bottom of the engine...!

Your call!

That guy was running a NX (Nitrous eXpress) setup and what caused the explosion was the failure of the 1600psi safety blow-off valve on the bottle.

Dude forgot the bottle heater on, causing pressure to rise well above 1600psi. Since the safety valve didn't open to release the pressure, the bottle popped, blowing up the car, large portion of his garage, and sent material (including the trunk lid) flying everywhere.

I know guys who run NOS on everything from mustangs to Ferrari's -- never a problem.

A Ferrari F355 with a 100 dry shot at WOT is somthing.
