So my uncle offered to help pay for a roll bar w/ harness bar for me after I let him drive my S last weekend. I was looking at the Cusco 6pt. Not because I need it.. but because it'd look f-ing sick once I decide to waste $1000 .

Anyways, my question is, can you still put the top up/down with it on?

Yes, the soft top will still be fully functional, but before you buy that rollbar that will look F'n sick you should do a little research. A lot of people would say that driving with a full cage on the street and no helmet isn't too safe, especially with a 6pt. Also, I love the look of a 4pt. cage, but a 6pt. looks retarded with the top down unless your car actually needs it (ex. it is extremely fast or you track the car).

Yeah, IMO a full cage without a helmet is just begging to have your skull cracked open like an egg.

So 4pt w/ harness bar is the pratical way to go that actually utilizes the bar to it's full potential (i.e. keeping me from killing myself instead of cracking my skull open)?

is the cusco bar even functional? it looks like it would just snap off in a roll over. the bar looks strong but it is just held together by a few bolts, i dought the bolts could with stand a roll over.

Call up Don @ autopower. They do have a jig for the 4 point they just made for me. It is a race only version (Weld it yourself) as you have to remove the stock roll bars and plastic. You also have to cut some of the plastic when putting it back in.

I know, I know, I swear I'll get pics up of mine soon. I have a job and a life so I run out of time.

I'f your uncle is willing to front you 1k on improving your car, why not get new shocks and springs, maybe steel brake hoses, and other fun things instead of a cage just for looks?

I wouldn't trust any bar that bolts in.. always get a weld in.

has anyone realized our seats, roll hoops, seat belts, air bags, and every other safety peice on this car is all bolted down...not welded?

Bolting something down with the proper bolts is just as safe as welding

Now to answer the question, I'm looking at an Elda 4 point roll bar with an attachment for racing harnesses so I can participate in some HPDE's
