Default Notchy Shifting Remedies

Going to change my transmission fluid again next weekend at the dealer and was wondering if there is any other type of service they could do that could possibly help with my notchy shifting.

The service guy I spoke to said there is nothing else he could recommend. I read in another thread:

As for grinding on 1-2 shift, from what I've heard a clutch fluid change, and clutch tension adjustment helps a lot.
Does the dealer not offer this? Anything other service you guys could recommend? Can shift linkage be aligned on an AP2 S2000?

FYI I changed my tranny fluid 7/5/08 and it was much smoother for a few months but now pretty bad again. Used Honda MTF.

What MY S do you have?

How many miles has it been since you've changed the tranny fluid last?

I remember when I was up to 13k miles on mine, my shifter was incredibly notchy...didn't start to feel it much until after 10k or so. Spoke to some S owners in my area and they suggested to change it out every 9-10k or 2-3 oil changes. Some change their engine oil at 3k(every 3) and others change it at 5k(every 2). I'm gonna stick with 9-10k.

I changed it when the car had 23,000 and it now has 27,000 miles. It's a 2004.

It shouldn't be so notchy.....mine shifts fine and I've used the GM synchromesh Friction modified (great at first but didn't last long). I'm currently running the Honda MTF and its fine as well. Is your's notchy to the point that you have to force it into gears?

My 2008 does this as well when cold. Not difficult to shift... just feel the gears latch, and occasionally a very slight grind feel when cold 1st to 2nd. It's gotten better as the car still has very few miles on it and it may still be breaking in. Almost seems like the sychros are sticky when cold... as once I have VTech'd it a time or two, it shifts nice and smooth.

I have also heard from others that a fluid change helps, so may try that. Let me know if the dealer ever does come through with any remedy. Thanks.

same here. when the cars is cold 1st to 2nd can get a little grindy but as soon as it warms up its smooth like butter.

when i changed the tranny fluid it would still do the cold shift grind. i think its inherant in the S...
