I love the NSX, but they could have made it 400 hp and made a better back end for it.

just wanted to add the S2k is also a mid engine car, the motor sits behind the front suspension.
Someone always has to start this...

Ive always wondered how a 91'-96' NSX feels compared to a '04+ S2K. Anyone driven the 2 and care to comment?

S2ks should match the early NSX in straightline speed. I believe they were low 14s back in the early 90s.

Although I cannot comment on the '04 feel, I do own a 91 NSX as well as an 02 S2K.

Pertinent info:
Bone Stock S2k w/ S0-2 Tires
Mods to the NSX: Intake, Exhaust, Bilstien Sport Shocks, Comptech Springs, Comptech Sway Bars, Dali Strut Tower Bar, Slotted Rotors, carbon brake pads, 215/45/16 245/40/17 Falken Azenis Sport Tires.

Overall Impressions:

The S2K feels like it can turn faster without the "bite" of snap oversteer. Perhaps it is how I drive. However even with the mods to the X, the S2k just feels like it wants to turn in faster. Eg. I have to pay more attention to the S2k on the highway as it like to follow the road surface whereas the X just cruises with slightly less on-center feel. The S just feels grabby. I have used OEM NSX tires and can say I am giving up 5-7% of its feel for the Falkens however the S really feels like it wants to eat up corners.

Power. No real comparison. The S2k is a hoot to drive fast, but in the end it is just not as quick as the X, in real terms as well as the a$$-o-meter feel.

Braking. The carbon pads on the X take a few really good stops to get the heat up to a point where they start to really grab. However in day to day driving I like the S2k brakes better. They are very firm with great feel. The X brakes by comparison are a little less sensitive (most likely due to the compound I am running) but the are not near as firm. I use stock brake lines with ATE-Blue Dot4 fluid.

Ease of use: The X really has the edge here. The car has more torque, and it just makes it that much easier to find a hole in traffic and jump. The S2k requires more drama. That can be a great thing, but if you have a passenger in the car, and that person is not a car nut, going from 6th to 3rd or 4th to make a fast pass is a bit over the top IMHO.

Fun: Subjective, I know.... but I have to say the S2k is more fun to drive. Here is my reasoning. There are more of them out there, and I don't really like having people look at me, or the car, when I drive. It makes me feel self conscious. The S just attracts less attention and top down motoring is a blast. If you asked me which car I would rather take on a back roads blast, not choice but to say the X. However I don't drive back roads every day, or even once a week.

I won't comment on interior, looks, fit and finish, track-ability (I have only tracked the X not the S so I cannot give a good review) as these cars were targeted for two different markets and two different decades.

Hope this helps. Feel free to disagree, would love to hear more comments and impressions.

No, the nsx pulls by a few car lengths. I just sold my 95 nsx to my father to get a 01 s2000. The reason I choose to go with the S2000 is because I wanted a faster car that handles almost on the same level and that is cheaper to achieve the kind of power I want. Also, the NSX motors are over $10,000+ not installed. A local shop quoted me $3,500 for a low mile S2000 motor installed (includes reinstalling supercharger and all bolt-ons). Not that I have blown a motor, I just want to make sure I can pay for any unexpected costs. Just to start, the NSX CTSC is about $12,000 installed. S2000 is about $6,500 + or -. I am very happy with the S2000 although I only drove it for a few weeks before I dropped it off at the shop to get About $14,000 in mods. I should get it back next week and I just bought a 3ccd video camera and will get you guys a clip of me racing it. So for me, it came down to having a super nice exotic sports car that lacks some crazy hp (236 whp) and having a done S2000 that wont get as many looks but that will come close and also destroy on the nsx. Which choose would you have gone with? Also, I can drive the NSX when ever I like.

I have an MY04 S2000 and I've driven my friend 92 NSX and there are a couple differences I felt that people left out.

1. The gearbox on the S2000 is one of the best on the market today but the NSX gearbox is great in its own right. Let me explain. The engagement of the gear is not as smooth but sort of clicked in. Yet I don
