Go check it out and dont worry about what other are saying about it. a hard top is a hard top 99 percent of people wont know the difference anyways. if it looks nice than go for it,

ok..let me clear this up..

i've owned the OEM hardtop, C-Wings carbon fiber mugen hardtop and now i have the VIS FRP hardtop.

the VIS one is by far the best fitting hardtop i've had. it seals tighter than the OEM one and i have no windnoise. the OEM hardtop was disappointing. it had the crappiest fitment and most windnoise no matter how much i adjusted the latches and side catchers. the c-wings top was so-so. i had to buy different weatherstripping to eliminate some of the windnoise and leaks.

VIS>C-Wings>OEM

my .02 cents

really???

this is the first time ive seen anyone talk about OEM in a negative way..lol

usually its OEM > then reps.
maybe you just got a bad egg??

cuz i cant see an OEM product being beaten by a REP of an aftermarket.

I was looking around for a hardtop and Octane Motorsports seems to have the best deal. A fiberglass one goes for 799 and the hardware with the back window is 850 so with shipping its all under 2000. The problem is that im not sure if they are any good. Has anyone ever purchased one from them?
my 2 cents if your after Mugen style:
IMO the hardwares kit is inferior quality and is too expensive, I used OEM hardwares front and back. I've seen the Octane hardwares and again I think the OEM hardware is far superior.

So I'd recommend buying the rear window and seals if you MUST but also get the OEM rear hardware from HT guy or some other US seller. (btw the total cost is now getting close to an OEM HT)

If you search around there are other ways at doing the seals but the Lexan/ glass window is difficult to get on its own.
I ended up getting my own Lexan cut and my installer provided a seal that needs no messy sealant.
I have a Seibon M style, I believe came from China, and I am very happy with fitment.

If you're close to Octane then I'd check out the quality and fitment, if good then just get the HT, then get OEM rear hardware and get window seals elsewhere (mine cost around 400), the 850 is just too expensive imo for what you get.

People here are taking their arguments way too seriously.

Just buy what you want, listen to bad advice, etc. You'll learn the hard way and you get what you pay for.

Plus 1 again for the OEM top. Mine fit perfectly OTB without leaks or wind noise. If you count the hardware ,paint and probably aggrevation with aftermarket tops, the extra money spent for OEM is well justified.

if you're going to get a mugen style top, get a VIS. do not buy the one from octane sports...

as soemone said, they use c wings one, which is manufactured by chaser aero. i have a chaser aero and fitment is horrible.

i've learned my lesson that cheaping out on a hardtop is no way to go.

As I do own an OEM hardtop, after seeing one too many mis-fitting hardtops (Mugen replicas were an option for me) I passed on it and spent the money. Well worth it to do it right the first time. Several of the local guys have leaks here and here with the Mugen FRP replica.

My personal recommendation is to go OEM or an actual Mugen FRP.
i agree.. nothing like OEM... best thing i bought

Oem hardtop owners, did he ask about the OEM Hardtop? No he didn't so gtfo he's asking about the Octane mugen replica hardtop and do u guys have one ? No u guys don't so why are u giving advice when you don't own one? if you did own one and it suck then u can say it sucked

u guys have no first hand experience as for my friend up their sorry for your hardtop x/ mine came out great no complaints for the price it was also even better

just because somethings cheap, replicated and NOT JDM like these guys they always wanna bash

in the end a hardtops a hardtop it does it job it looks good keeps things out.

and i agree OEM is always great but im not gonna pay 2600 for a OEM hardtop and then even more money for the hardware kit and to install it

i only spent 1000 for the hardtop with hardware then another 200 to get it painted so i don't see no HARM.
