Yea, I have to park uphill too, and I hate that smell. My clutch is not brand new, but its not old either.

SO really, I just need to work on the technique. Any advice people?

On mine, MY2007, 19K miles, flat driveway: when I get out of the car after backing into the garage, I sometimes notice a "burnt rubber smell" and I do not, repeat not, push the car hard prior to this. New tires last week, no change.

I'm wondering if I need to get under the car and look for rubber (???) too close to exhaust.

Hows your alignment? when driving forward your rear wheels are behind you so the smell wont get to you, but if you drive backwards smell from the rear tires will come forward... if your rear alignment is off/toed in a lot, then you might be burning some rear rubber!
