Default OEM front lip and small flaps??

K, my neighbor and I are attempting a front lip install tonight. You know those small flaps under the front bumper (in front of the tires).... should they be removed? I don't like the way they look to begin with and it looks like they'll still show below the OEM lip. Has anyone removed them? And if so, how do I remove them?

Thanks, pics to come after lip install even though it's nothing special

TJ

No you do not need to remove the flaps to install the lip-

i beleive they help keep the car stable at higher speeds

if you want to take them off they are just screwed in

Keep the car stable at higher speeds even with the lip installed?

1) They can easily be removed by undoing two screws each. Look under the car and they're easy to spot.

2) There's no need to remove them to install a front lip.

3) The flaps provide significant aerodynamic benefits by redirecting the air around the tires. My personal opinion is that an S2000 that does not have them looks like it's been damaged in an accident. (They get knocked off every once in a while but road debris.) Performance at higher speeds will likely suffer.

the flaps are called "strakes"...
and the purpose is as indicated above-
i would not remove them unless you never plan to drive fast...
and if thats the case-
time to trade that baby in!

btw, lookin good!!

If you can still see the strakes in front of the wheels even with the front lip installed, your car isn't low enough.
