Does anyone know who built the radio of the S2000? Is it Alpine, Clarion, Sony or Fujitsu Ten? I'm planning on getting a 6 disc changer but not from the dealer.

I believe the alpine 6-disc changer works with the S2000 Stock radio. I've had two other hondas that have accepted the unit. I still have one that I might install when the weather gets warmer. I'll keep you posted.

It is listed as a Matsushita (sp?) which I think makes Panasonic.

Head unit matters not. The changer that works with the S2000 is the Alpine! You need an adapter if your going to use an aftermarket changer but the one from the dealer will plug right in. Though at a price!

I have some connections if you wish to buy a changer from me with the adapter. PM/E-mail me if you like.

Pinky is right.

I used to be the Audio buyer for Honda in Marysville. ALL of the Honda radios use (used?, when I was there 6 years ago) the Alpine BUS system for CD changers.

The only difference is that they "change" some of the PIN mapping (not the connector shape, e.g. swap the two audio pins for two functional pins). This is designed to drive changer sales to the dealers.

The connector Pinky refers to solves this "mapping" issue, if you can find one.

Mistersleepy & KidK

Are these 6-disc Alpine changers the "AI" net series? I believe the "AI" net series are not backward compatible with the older Alpine headunits.

Anyway, I'll check out the Alpine website and try to post their latest 6 disc changers on this board. Kindly see if they would be compatible.

Pinky,

Are you certain about the different plug designs for OEM and aftermarket Alpine changers? I live in the Philippines and it would be very difficult for you to have that adapter shipped over here.

Does anybody know the pin outs for the stock unit. It's pretty easy to open up a stock Alpine cord and reverse a few pins. You just have to know where to move them.

To back up Pinky, I know for a fact that the Alpine changer will work with the adapter.

It's not only that the pins are swaped, but the physical shape of the plug is different. The stock changer uses a MOLEX style plug (square), where the alpine uses a round or DIN style plug that has smaller pins.

The adapters are readilly available at most shops. Pinky may be able to work a better deal with you on the changer and adapter than most shops.

As far as the Philippines go, I'm not sure, but it shouldn't be that hard to find out.

The plug on the back is a Molex style connector? I didn't know that. I guess I'm basing my assumptions on one of my old Civics. I had the diagram and just swapped the pins. The adaptor at the time was 90 bucks.
At the risk of getting too technical, does anybody have a clue as to what the part number might be for that connector? or a picture of it? My company is a buyer from Molex and I could get the part for $.50 instead of paying big bucks for the OEM part.
