Default oem suede steering wheel?

has anyone ever done this is on their car? i saw the car at a pioneer store in newport beach and i loved how the steering wheel felt. i think it would look even better in the S cause of the size of the wheel and color vs the grey in the scion.

those look really nice, especially on the bimmers, though i've heard they tend to get kind of gross after awhile due to the sweat from your hands, and tend to possible shed small pieces and not hold up...

that's right the m3 csl had them!

but i would think if you drove normally which i know is hard to do in the S the wear and tear would be minimal.

i want to know how much it will cost to do.

It's funny that I just came across this post because two days ago I went to a local interior shop and asked if I could have the factory leather steering wheel re-covered with suede. (of course leather would be taken off the wheel) The shop owner told me that it can only be done by companies who specialize in making suede steering wheels. He also said there is a proccess where the material is shrunk in water first and then applied to the wheel. I loved my 383 sparco steering wheel in my mustang but I want to retain the airbag so I figured I would try and get the best of both worlds. This is the first shop I went to and not the last. If anyone has done this mod please let us know! Thanks.

the only thing that worries me about getting something like done are couple things. one, is the shop good enough that they don't botch the job. two, how would a suede/alcantara type steering wheel look with a non-suede interior. if the S interior was 50/50 leather and alcantara maybe. i just can't picture in my head if it will look nice.

I have one in my car. Actually it is Alcantara (man made suede). Rick's offer custom leather wrapped wheels. Leather, seude, alcantara and CF, we can do it all www.ricks2k.com

Would it be possible to post a few pictures of the suede steering wheel because when I went to the site all I found was a red and black leather wrapped wheel. I would greatly appreciate it as I am considering purchasing one if I like the way it looks. Thanks again!
