It is ironic, I got rid of my SportShift Prelude thinking the tranny will blow sooner or later since a lot of others had it. Now, my S has the 1st -2nd grind in the lower RPM range. It is happening more and more now and the enjoyment of driving is all gone. I rather have it parked and drive the Accord.

Take it to the dealer and get them to change the 1st and second gears and syncros.

Good luck with the BS honda dealers though...

if its happening so often, take it into the dealer and reproduce the problem for them, they will take care of it as long as the car is still under warranty

Sorry to hear it, Former. I didn't think the '02s were afflicted with the grinding problem. Keep us posted.

Yeah, don't sit around with it; go get it looked at. Think ya' broke something?

Are we talking about the "teeth-knashing-just-learned-to-drive-a-manual-and-it-won't-go-into-gear" kind of grind, or the more common 1-2 and 2-3 notchyness that most of us feel, especially when cold?

Yup, I am confident that I can reproduce it for the dealers now. If there aren't stop and go traffic, I can simulate it and will take it in everyday on my vacation in order to reproduce it for them.

Colin, these are grind-grinds, horrible sound, vibration through the shifter, and not going into gear, have to pull it out.

02' and 03' are affected, they aren't the high rpm kind of 1st -2nd but low rpm ones. That just isn't right.

I too get it every now and then, not enough to worry about it tho. Redline MT-90 helps it alot.
