Offsets for Spoon wheels
I've read many posts complaining about the offsets of the front Spoon wheels, excuse for my ignorance if I'm wrong, but I thought Spoon makes 16 x 7 wheels in +35mm AND +45mm offsets, well at least according to their japanese website they do. Anyone?
Hi Mingster, my question is, why are there so many people complaining about the +35mm offsets when the +45mm is available? I'm thinking of buying a set of Spoon wheels and seems like everyone's going for the +35mm offsets, I just want to find out why before I make the decision.
btw, I have received the dead pedal, thanks!

Visually, the front offset is too low at 35, but there are no rubbing problems with my suspension stock. If one went with the 45 and bought 225 front tires, then theoretically, the amount "sticking out" may be about the same. Since the front grip is very high with SP8000s and the wider track (better than with the oem wheels it feels), and grips higher than the rears, I will keep buying 205s for the front (225 will stick out way too much, imo, for my offsets). 245s for the rears may match the fronts visually for "sticking out", but that's ok for me.
If given the choice now, I'd go with the 45mm offset front.
Hth!
Spoon makes 16" wheels in 3 different sizes...
- 16x7 +45
- 16x7 +35
- 16x8 +45
Apparently, Spoon specifies the 16x7 +35 Front and 16x8 +45 Rear for the S2000. The 16x7 +45 size actually existed before the other 2 sizes were available... and was meant for fitment on Civics and Integras. I have no idea whether the 16x7 +45 will fit on the S2000... it certainly SEEMS like it might be a more ideal offset (especially when you compare it to the stock wheel width and offset or even the Mugen setup)... but then why did they go through the trouble of making the 16x7 +35 then?
I will try to get verification whether the 16x7 +45 will fit the S2000... and whether it is a "better" choice than the 16x7 +35 wheel...
BTW... I have the same setup as Prolene... and I LUV IT! =D

I finally got hubcentric rings for the Spoon wheels. The first size I put on the rear had an opening of 64.15mm, when I should have had 63.9mm. I tried to center the ring with duct tape, but the ride on the freeway was quite bumpy. After Prestige in Huntington Beach was nice enough to make rings today that fit, since they were out of the correct size, the ride is surprisingly much smoother on the highway. I didn't expect offcenter of such a small amount to make such a noticeable effect.
I think the Spoon wheels look excellent on my red S2K!
