Thanks Heffeme for the interesting remarks. Your point about oil changes in Europe are right on.

Good theory but studies by manufacturers, oil companies, and fleet operators show that it is contamination and breakdown of the additives that force changes. Conventional oils are as good for extended intervals as synthetics.
