From the time I had my S, I probably burned about 1/2 quart per 3000 miles. At 10,000 miles I changed to Mobil 1. In 3500 miles since the Mobil 1 change I've burned no oil at all. Either the Mobil 1 has helped or the engine is better broken in...or both! I also must add that at 10,000 miles I took on a new sales job and have increased my stop and go driving and highway as I use the car as a daily driver. -Ken

It tapers off drastically, but it never stops consuming some oil.

You would be well-advised to continue checking the oil level periodically.

High Speeder

Mine did the same thing. Took about 10k and Mobil 1. Their gearlube works good in the differential too.

It is possible that the switch to synoil helped, as synoils seal better at the ring/cylinder interface because of higher film strength, especially with ester-based synoils (Mobil 1 is not one of them).

Likely most of what you are seeing is the effect of a completely bedded in engine.

At the rate i am picking up miles, I will have been dead 2 years by the time mine reaches that state. I guess my wife's new husband will enjoy it.
