Default Oil cap stuck

Has anyone else had problems removing their Oil cap. For reference mine is a Spoon Aluminum cap.

I have had this problem two or three times now, go to change the oil and I can't get the darn cap off. End up adding scratches with the channel locks. I think it has to do with the aluminum expanding when it gets hot. IE the cap expands, while the hole shirinks.

When the car comes out of storage next year I am switching back to the OEM.

Just curious if this is a common problem.

i suspect you're right about expansion and contraction.

Why not put a cloth around the cap next time so you don't marr it?

Tried that, but it was stuck so bad that the teeth on the channel locks tore through the cap.

you could have put a cloth around it and just hit it lightly with a hammer or mallet. that is what i do when it gets tough to get off

My OEM is always super tight, but I have always been able to take it off by hand. Usually hurts my fingers pretty bad though!

Just put a drop of oil on the side threads. Happens nomally to most folks. BUT BEWARE! Several people have had the cap come off. Personally would rather have to struggle with it.

The people who have had the cap come off did not properly have the gasket inside the cap. It was not due to lubing up the threads.
