Do you trust them to not overtighten the drain plug? To have in stock and actually use a new crush gasket? To allow you to bring your own oil filter so you use the proper one? No, you say?

Better to do it yourself IMO.

it is very easy to do yourself...
1. install a fumoto valve
2. change the oil and filter
3. the hardest part- take the old oil to the shop for recycling

then you know what the torque is on the drain (fumoto) plug, you know what kind of oil you are running and you know that the car was taken care of in the process

I know someone who took their new Civic SI to one of those places for an oil change, and he didn't discover until the next oil change that the drain plug was totally stripped out. They denied everything of course... On my dad's truck they stripped out the metal rod that holds the air filter on top of the carb.

I've never felt comfortable taking my car to those places.

Jiffy Lube? I got lazy once and brought my car into a similar place. They then procede to pop the hood which made me think twice because it was a MR2.

NO!

They didn't secure the underbody plastic on my Celica. On the way home I hear this HORRIBLE sound from under the car. I pulled over but couldn't reach it... so I drove all the way home with it dragging. Totally ruined.
