Oil drain bolt

Default Oil drain bolt

After all the posts I have read about the dealer not tightening the oil drain bolt after an oil change I was wondering whether I could put some sort of high temperature tape over it to keep it from coming out !! Anybody think that would work?????????? Couldn't possibly ruin engine if it can not come out!

Just make sure it's tight, I think the Helms manual says 33 ft lbs (anybody back me up on this) and you won't have any problems.

If you really want to get picky, and if I remember correctly, generally Honda specifies 29 ft./lbs. for aluminum oil pans, and 33 ft./lbs. for steel oil pans. So the S2K should be at 29.

29 & 33 are the only 2 numbers I've seen for oil, tranny, diff drain/fill bolts. I set my wrench to 31 ft lbs and do them all. Being a few lb-fts high or low isn't gong to hurt anything.

imo, its the crush washer that is the key to getting it on right...

Anyone ever re-use the crush washer when they change their oil. Some people turn it over and use the other side...

I'd go with fumoto oil drain valve if you are concerned.

Once it's in, it's simply about moving a lever instead of worrying about thread tightening, and lbs per torque etc.

I'd love one, but the world is currently out-of-stock!

I tried Rick's - not even listed currently.
I even went directly to Fumoto themselves (in Bellevue WA, near a killer BBQ place called "Dixies") and they are out of stock until the end of January at least! Figures that I finally decide to start doing my own oil changes and I can't get the valve.

I will though, then no more flippy flip of the crush washer.
