Default Oil leak at rear under car

Just wanted to share my surprise to find an oil leak in the rear of my car. Took it to Marin Honda. The car was inspected and we found the rear left bushing was leaking oil. No one new that the bushings have oil in them. Honda wanted to replace both the left an right bushings even though only the left was leaking. Yesterday I took the car back and the two bushing were replaced. Honda wanted the old bushings sent Federal express to their tech dept. for investigation. I guess it is the first time that failure happened. My car has 7k miles.

Bushings? Is that what it says on the repair order?

Were these the half shafts (Honda calls them drive shafts), or possibly the wheel bearings? Either of these would leak grease, not oil though. The only items in the back of the car with oil in them are the differential (smelly oil) and the shocks (very light oil).

If it's rubber they will dry out and crack, someone on this forum told me about spraying the rubber with a rubber safe silicone spray to help keep them conditioned.

I had the same thing happen to my car. Its handling went out the door. It felt like the car had flat on the left rear. I had mine replaced under warranty.
