Do you think this is still normal?

My S2000 is still using oil, between oil changes I am having to put in a 1/2 qt. to a full quart in the car.
It has 26800+ miles on it...

Yes. Some cars continue to use oil even after the break-in period.

i guess it has to do with how well the rings seated during the initial breakin process, also depends on your driving. but keep in mind, just b/c your car is still burning oil doesn't necessarily make it a bad/weak motor. if the oil usage is excessive, then you got a problem. but 1/2 to 1 quart b/w oil changes(especially if you like to vtec a lot) is pretty normal. i believe oil consumption is proportional to how many times you use VTEC(well mostly). someone correct me if im wrong.

EDIT: btw, the h22a in my accord still burns oil if i get VTEC happy. the motor has 32k miles on it and still has factory compression readings(from doing a compression test). DOHC VTEC motors behave the same.

dont know if i am just dreaming, but it seems that i used more oil when i was running dino oil than i do with synthetic. seems to use no synthetic, but i did have to add dino oil when i ran that.

i need about 1.5L extra between 7000km oil changes. oil weight is 0W-40. about 900km on the track for the last interval. i hear using 10W-60 or similar oil helps reduce consumption and will try that for the remainder of the year.

Since my 4000km oil change I have had No oil consumption whatsoever...I changed my oil at 2000 and 4000kms with dino oil (Valvoline 10W30) and then to synthetic at 9000kms(Mobil 1 10W30 Synth). I did a compression check and it was 230psi across the board and the engine gets stronger and stronger as the miles increase. 11,500kms now.

BTW I VTEC everyday and hit redline 25% of the time.

Peace

Yes, it's normal.
My s has used a bit less than a quart in between changes (3000-3750 mi) the last two changes, and I'm at 24k miles. Prior to that it used even more. You'll find tons on this topic if you do a search on oil consumption.

I changed my oil at approx. 6200 miles. I am at 8900 now with NO OIL BURN! I Vtec every time I drive the car, especially lately since I got the Spugen exhaust on.
