Okay...newbie question here but....
Okay from what ive gotten... K20a is an RSX type S engine right? Okay... i have heard some of you guys talk about this engine like it is a God of an engine. Can i get the answers here? Is that four cylinder engine better then our F20/F22 engines? And if it is why? what makes it so diffrent? Why would then not make the S2000 engine the more powerful engine? There must be something to it here. Our cars are pretty much maxed out engine wise right? Well i would think that the K20 gets to that point that ours are at.... then adding more things will just be like adding cold air intake to our cars... pretty much will do not too much.
When i used to own a corvette i had the idea that the LS1 engine was powerful, but the LS6 was a little better... and it was true it had 50 more horsepower and torque. Our S2000 has 30 more horses then the RSX. So why is it not better. What makes these two engine designs so diffrent? The LS6 had new heads, intake manifold, better flowing headers i believe and TI exhaust, but it has been all based on the LS1 engine design from the start. I need to be informed how Honda works with there engines. Are all Vtec's not created equally or at least from the same base?

cant beat 9k rpms

WHat is true however is that the Kseries mod market is an order of magnitude or more larger than the Fseries market. This results in substantially more R&D money being used to discover new engine mods. If the F20C/F22C had near the money devoted to it you would see even better results out of it.
NA mods for the F20C/F22C are constrained by R&D money not by the capability of the engine.
I think it has a lot to do with Honda didn't tune the K20 motor from the factory as much as they did the our motor. The K20 ITR motor is rated at 220 hp and like said above, the aftermarket support is a lil more in target to the K motor so you see tons of K motors responding to mods since Honda didn't wring it out from the factory like the F20. Both are great motors, the K motor has made the B series a dinosaur. I have heard tons of people who had fully built N/A B motors running better with near stock K motors in the same car. I.E. A good friend of mine who is a certified tech and does superb work had an EK hatch with a B20 bottom end and B16 head with forged everything running 12.0:1 compression with ITR IM, header, cams, Hondata.. etc etc.. he put a K20a with like exhaust and a K-Pro program in a DC Integra and was running faster than his hatch. Now he's supercharged it.. and its stupid fast for what it is.
