one week with the new S
well its been a week since i bought my 01 Spa Yellow and i've noticed a few things...
1. never before in my old vehicles (all were red) did anyone comment on my red shirt matching my car. in the S if i wear a yellow shirt i hear snickers driving through the mall parking lot like "how cute, his shirt matches his car" wtf is up with that? i never once have thought "what a putz, his white shirt matches his white car"
2. in my Firebird Formula all the boy racers in their civics and celicas would run and hide (probably something to do with long tubes and open cutouts) but in the S every 17 year old in his fart canned celica wants to race.
3. everyone stares. i'm not sure if its the car or the color but everyone stares! especially high schoolers.
4. most people (girls) have no clue what kind of car it is! my mother, while giving her a ride in the S today, went so far to point at a Z4 and say "is that the same car"...maddening i say!
5. i love this thing! at 12:30 in the evening i'm having a hard time just letting it sit in the driveway. it reminds me of my Tony Kart everytime i hop in it
i'm sure more will come
oh i forgot number 6. so far s2ki seems like a pretty kick ass community!

Yeah, Spa Yellow grabs attention big-time. I've owned mine less than a month and I can't count the number of people I catch looking at it. Amazes me. I could drive around in my beater stark naked and not get a glance.
I've already done a complete walk-through of the car with a couple in a Lowe's parking lot who wanted everything but a test drive. Heck, they probably wanted a test drive but knew better than to ask.
And I know it isn't my imagination that when I'm in the S2000 people drive around me much more aggressively than my beater. Suddenly, soccer moms in Volvos are trying to beat me to the next stoplight. But the funniest are BMW 3-series drivers. They've been sold that BMW is the "performance car" so they're always trying to show off.
And, yeah, teens in their 'tuned' ancient-as-heck Civics, Preludes, etc. held together with baling wire and bubble gum with mufflers that sound like the apocolypse are attracted to my S2000 like bees to honey. They buzz around me but I rarely bite.

When I got mine, I did not expect the stares nor was I ready for them...I never had that from my previous cars so it was just a whole different experience...
The funniest incident happened a couple days ago:
Mazda RX-7 (I think it was Gen 2) ~ $5000
Custom color shifting paint: ~$2000
Carbon fiber hood: ~$800
Vin Diesel look-a-like with mouth wide open: PRICELESS
Young kids are usually the ones yelling, " I love your car!!"

I get the same thing! If you look at all the S's available, the Spa Yellow stands out more than the others. That color enhances the lines and curves of the vehicle more than black, white or red. All of my friends said "You bought a YELLOW CAR?" Then when they saw it, they just drooled
I looked at a lot of S2000 in my search for the right car. I mean every color and that was not easy because there are not that many in Nashville Tennessee for sale. The Yellow is the best, just my opinion. No offence to those who chose other colors. The main thing is the technology in the car! I drove over 400 miles each way to buy my Spa Yellow.
You could almost get away with taking off the S2000 emblem on the sides, the H on the hood and trunk lid, replace it with a Farrari or Lamberg.... emblem and nobody would catch it.
