Yesterday, during the process of replacing the center console, I decided to rewire the conv. top operating button to by-pass the hand-brake. Why? Because sometimes I was in slow traffic and wanted to put the top down or up but wasn't able to stop completely to pull up the hand-brake. I always wanted to bypass the hand-brake. Now it's working BEAUTIFULLY without the need of using hand-brake. It's so convenient to me. I can operate it in slow traffic; not on the highway because wind resistance may damage it, but I still doubt it. It would have to be at really high speed in order to have enough force to damage it during operation. However, in slow traffic, it's absolutely wonderful. Oh, and it doesn't have to be in motion for it to work. It works whether the car is moving or not, with the hand-brake either engaged or not. Wonderful!

Have anyone else done this? Some of you may think it's idiotic, while others may think it's absolutely wonderful. Whatever the case, it's wonderful to ME. My car, so I'd like to make it most convenient to me.

Well, that's it. Just wanted to share. And to the ones that I don't like, and always get on my case (you know whom you are), just keep on moving. No need to read my threads or posts. It's very simple! Just keep on moving! There's an ignore button, use it!

It's very easy; just bypass the ground wire. 5 minutes, tops.

Oh my God! I can't believe I spelled 'break' instead of 'brake'. I usually am quick to spot it out. So embarassing! And any of the above posters didn't see it either?

Yeah, I know. No prob! Still embarassing though!

By the way, it's 'man' instead of 'mang', unless mang is my name, which it isn't. Now, we're even.

Nevermind! I switched it back to the factory mode. In that mode, the ground wire is connected to BOTH the conv. top and hand-brake light on the dash. As a result, the hand-brake light on the dash was constantly lit when I re-routed the ground wire. So, I switched it back. There went 30 minutes of my time. Oh well, it was somewhat fun. Working on cars is always somewhat fun.

Jason B, HOW DID YOU DO IT? DID YOU HAVE THE HAND-BRAKE LIGHT PROBLEM? SHARE WITH US! THANKS!
