Opinion on the hondata intake gaskets
I wanna get it but I heard the hastle of installing it isnt worth it. But can these really help the temp lower a decent amount? Would u get it?
I had one on my AP1 and I had problems with it. I guess it was not really problems, but just one problem. It cracked and led to overheating... I know on some level they say it helps and has an effect, but it is not worth the trouble to me. It seems as though the costs outweigh the benefit of having a strong, more reliable OEM gasket.
They are a pain to install, but personally, I think it is worth it. The way I decided to get one was by putting my hand on a car fresh off the highway that had a Hondata IMG. It was hot, but I could leave my hand there. Try that with your car...the intake will be so hot your reflexes will yank your hand back.
A Hondata IMG won't necessarily add hp, but it will help you keep what you have and reduce heat soak.
Note...there are cheaper alternatives to the Hondata IMG. Personnally, I would only use a Hondata simply because they have a reputation to maintain...the others, not so much. If an eBay seller sends you cheap plastic that melts on your head, they probably won't even respond to your email.

2 of us did a test with his Hondata and my stock car.
We drove them easy and we drove them hard and kept stopping and measuring temps at different spots with my laser thermometer. The intake was consistently 40 degrees or more cooler on the car with the Hondata.
This means that you won't get into the timing cut in hot weather as quickly and it will recover much quicker.

I only see one version on their website. Where are you seeing that there are two versions?

i would agree that the hondata gasket is well worth it. it totally sucks to install. mine took me roughly 8 hours but that was with some beer drinking and just goofing around taking my time. i would say go for it. just install it yourself, its a great learning experience.
