Opinion needed..
Hi guys,
Perhaps some of you with some bodyshop history can help me on this decision.
About 2 months ago some assclown decided it would be cool to back into my driver side door, also putting a dent into the quarter panel and fleeing the scene. Leaving this entire repair on my shoulders as I refuse to claim this through insurance, didn't file a police report, etc =/.
My car is 2001 Berlina Black S2000. I have always kept the paint in good shape, regularly polished/waxed. Right now it's a bit swirled but it still shines..
I have brand new from Hard top guy front and rear 04-06 bumpers waiting to be painted and put on the car.
The bodyshop quoted me $1695.00 for a new door skin, repaint on new skin, repair and paint on the quarter panel and of course the new bumpers.
A full repaint is close to $3100.00
I'd kick myself in the ass if I spent 1700 to fix the car and the paint didn't match or shined newer, etc - On a well kept car, if they polish/buff the entire car will this bodywork/paint match to the naked eye?
Just wondering if you guys have gone through anything similar and how it came out.. It's worth the extra $1500.00 for complete peace of mind, but of course I'd love to save that =/

First off, my car is in the shop, so I feel your pain.
Though, I don't know the shop you are taking it to, I recommend you ask them if they have lifetime and satisfaction garantee on their works.
For the best of your car, you should have claimed your insurance and get the best shop possible, IMO.
Hope this help..

Oh it's a really good bodyshop - It's located ON the biggest Honda dealer in Florida (Rick Case) - they just opened it and I seen some of the cars that have gotten out of there, they look pretty good. Really expensive paint booth etc, I just want the car to match =/

Just curious, did you not have the uninsured/underinsured clause on your insurance? If you didn't I would add it. It saved a friend of mine 3000 when someone left the scene on him. I don't think his insurance went up at all (a little if anything) and he only paid 500 for the deductible.
