Default Optimal mileage for going full rpm range.

Hello everybody! Yeah, a newbie here (Former owner of a '98 6-speed Supra Turbo). Just bought a gorgeous 2003 Silverstone on black S2000 and I am thrilled with the quality and finish of this car, I mean, it is a jewel!
Given that this is not a daily driver and that I intend to keep this baby for a very long time, that I am not into serious racing but rather just truly enjoying such a fine automobile, my question for you guys is:
The owners' manual states that one should not go past 5500 rpm until 1,000 km. have elapsed, then makes no further comments. Is it green light for full VTEC? Or should I ease into the higher rev range gradually for another 1000 or so miles?
Your input and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Also my compliments on your site, it is excellent!
Thanks in advance.
Dan

Congrats on the new baby!!!!

Yes stay below 6k rpms for the first 600 miles. After that your green light to VTEC when you like. Though I wouldn't spend all day there. Reason being is that your engine will break in a lot in the first 4,000 miles. CHECK THE OIL AT EVERY FILL UP!!! You will probably loose 1-2 quarts in the first 4k miles.

After 10,000 miles you can put synthetic in your car as it will be fully broken in at that point. It might use "some" oil between 4k-10K but should be minimal. Just keep tabs on it from time to time.

and bouncing all over the rev limiter

Thanks!
I guess I'll take it easy until 1000 or so miles, -perhaps go up to 7,000 rpm- and after 1000 miles... really let her scream.
Thanks
