Ordered a 2002 s2000 on Monday.
I did have a 2001 on order for 4 weeks, after bugging the dealer he finally told me the car was damaged enroute. I think he sold it to someone else for more $$$. I found a dealer that took my deposit on a 2002 spa yellow s2000 Monday. He told me to expect the car around October 1st. Is he also "pulling my leg" on a fast delivery time? Does October 1st sound right? For anyone that has ordered one, what was the delivery date given? Also I don't even know what the MSRP is. I have a sales contract for $1,000 over MSRP, any word on this? Thanks to all responces.
good luck on your new purchase usually takes 1-2 months from japan to usa it sucks waiting but it'll be worth it
my dealer has no clue of a 2002 model yet, so i brought them some pics and the press release and they were amazed, they still have a 2001 coming in sometime this month or next

There's no official word on MSRP yet, but I would bet that it's a few hundred more than MSRP for the 2001.
Also, I think that you can do better than $1k over MSRP on the car. It's been out for 2 full years, the resale market is pretty saturated and the economy is depressed. If I were you, I'd take some time and call around the state to different dealers, MSRP with no premium or add-ons should be attainable. If you're patient and can wait to December, even better deals can occur between Christmas and New Years.
In any case, looking forward to another sunshine state owner. Be sure to check out the Florida forum for information on local and regional events.

I put in an order on Sunday for a 2002 Spa Yellow and they indicated that my build slot wasn't until November and the delivery isn't until December. I'm in the North East, so delivery will naturally take a little bit longer, but they said they don't have anything earlier than a November build date. I'd say that the Oct. 1 delivery date isn't quite right because [URL=http://www.hondanews.com/Forms/honda/S2000/*ws4d-db-query-Show.ws4d?*ws4d-db-query-Show***001307***-wieck_media***-***honda(directory)S2000(directory)***.ws4d?honda/S2000/results
I ordered a 2002 Silver a few weeks ago after a friend wreaked my Spa Yellow 2001.
My dealer said it was the frist on order for North Carolina.
He said (and we will see if He is correct) expect delivery sometime 2nd to 3rd week in Oct.
He even told me the "born" date for the car in Japan was Sep 11 th. He said it takes about 3 weeks to make, then about 1 week to ship.. and 1 week to train from San Fran to NC.
I will let you know what happens.

I have a 2000 black/black purchased in November of 2000 with about 17,000 miles and all the extras. I just found out that the 2002 will have a glass window, thus fixing the only imperfection in a near-perfect car. Believe it or not, my wife says to get the new one!
What do you all guess my cash out-of-pocket might be if I trade it at the dealer (my dealer was much less greedy in November of 2000 than any other dealer in the Columbus, OH area, so let's assume I can get it for MSRP)?
Also, what is known about the other changes, e.g., the transmission and the console, especially?
I wanted yellow before yellow was available in the US, so that's also tempting me.

Placed my order for a spa yellow 2002 in July! Price was given as "MSRP" with no forced add ons.Was sent a buyers order(dealership is in Charlotte-about 100 miles down the road) the next day with everything in writing. They also took a 1000.00 deposit,of course. My wife and I were returning from a weekend at the beach and decided to "drop by unanounced"(This was last tuesday).Everybody was super nice, the dealership is beautiful, and the new car manager (he drives a white 00' model!) took us in his office and showed us a printout which said our car was already built! He gave me an estimated delivery of 4 weeks(best case) to 6 weeks. No official word on what MSRP is yet, however.
Question for johschiavarelli:What dealership did you order from?I dealt with Hendrick Honda. When the manager showed me the printout,it appeared to show only two S-2000's in his first shipment. Was wondering if your car might be the other!

I got mine from Honda Cars of Concord. The first S2000 I had, I got from Hendrick. Form what I understand the dealer showed you "HIS" invoice list. Each dealer is getting 2 cars at frist. One to be delivered in OCT and one in NOV. If you got the first one, like myself from Concord, then we be should be seeing them around the middle of OCT.
Who did you see over there? Ed? I wanted to get one from them, but he did not have any idea of what was coming in. I guess he sold his first two.

The salesman I dealt with was Charlie Myers, the managers first name was Vince.Sorry I don't remember his last name(my wife might-she's better with names than I am-but she's not home from work yet). When he showed us the printout it already had a VIN# with it.I am kicking myself now for not writing it down, but they did tell us we would be getting the first yellow 2002 they received!
