Is the tanabe racing medallion a good exhaust for the S2000? A local dealer near me seems to think it is a good one. I heard it is really deep and loud though.

Wow you brought back one of my old threads. The Racing Medallion will require you to put on the silencer to meet noise restrictions on the street and it's dual canister per Mackin. I don't think anybody on this board has it, cuz no one ever talks about Tanabe.

Hey S2R, what kind of exhaust did you choose for the S2000? Too many options...I have yet to hear a Tanabe Racing Medallion and I'm waiting till one comes into the shop to check it out. I'm concerned that the weight loss in the rear might create a negative effect on my steering, i.e. loss of rear traction? What do you think?

I think it's only lighter by about 10 lbs, so I don't think it's a big deal. Also, people put like lugage, clubs, subs in their trunks and I haven't heard anybody really complain. There's also the Hyper medallion for the S2. The Japanese site says there's a lighter version than the two applications that are out. I don't know when it's available though. Both systems cost about $750 if my memory serves me correct. It sounds like a good deal to me. The exhaust I ended up getting was the Mugen. I'm expecting it to arrive sometime next week.

Let me know how you like that Mugen one. Is that the one with silencer loops in it? How much did you pay for it? Thanks,

Click on the Sponsor's banner for King Motorsports on the bottom of the screen. They are the sole distributor for Mugen products in the US. I picked this exhaust cause it's 24.4 lbs lighter than stock, has dual titanium canisters, and is not too loud but deeper. This one has a "twin loop-type silencer".

S2R, have you seen any dyno figures for the Mugen exhaust? Do you think you will get any more power out of it? So it isn't as loud as a Tanabe then huh? I might go Mugen too. I have to hear it though.

Here's a link the the King website with a dyno figures, but it's a combination of header and exhaust. Actually, I don't know how tababe sounds on the S2, so I can't really comment on it. I think most everybody says you're not going to get much power from the exhaust. Some even causes you to lose power. It's basically about sound, weight, and looks.

Damn. You shouldn't have told S2K Fan that. Now he knows how to post even faster!

BTW. You can also use something more visually appealing, if you want:
