Default Others worried about safety...

When people I know first see the car, they are suprised at how small it is. I usually hear the following:

"Is it safe?"

"I wouldn't want to get into a crash in that thing"

"what if you rolled over?"

Anyways...I explain the safety features on the car...like the rollbars..safety frame...etc. Do you guys get this too from people who see the car?

Do the rollbars actually work?

I always thought that rollbars had to be at least "3-point" to be effective.

Does anybody know for sure?

To me it's a big car. I wish it were smaller and lighter.

There have been pics posted of the car resting on its rollbars - and the occupants did very well...

actually, i do feel safe in S2K ...

and i bet you that there are more serious or fatal accident in SUV then roadster~ (not just because SUV out number roadster by a huge margin but the fact that SUV is not as safe as the size of it would suggest)

roll over ... it's harder to roll it over when the center of gravity is low. of course, unless you ran off a cliff or ran into a slop at angle or something.

the integrated roll bar does help ... but for a lot of taller driver, that may not be the case ...

me worry about getting seriously injuried in a roll over? ... i thought about it.

does it stop me from buying/driving a roadster? ... no.

life is too short to worry about every little tiny possible accident that may or may not occur ...

if safety is your biggest concern, get a mid/full size sedan from germany or japan.

but to me, S2K is almost, if not the most, safest roadster out there ...

and remember, how you drive contribute to how you will end up too ...

I feel a lot safer in the S2K than in the Envoy we have.

I think the car is safe enough. If you're worried about safety, buy a Volvo.

Although it's my second car, I have gotten:

"Oooo, There's no back seat?"
"It's a convertable???"
"What if you hit a tree at 100 mph?"
" Bet it'll go at least 120 but only with the top up."
"Does it have room for an airbag?"
"Wow, dual exhaust, must be a V-8 or V-12 eh?"
"Honda? What is it, like... a Civic convertable?"
"Better watch out, I wouldn't see you and run over you in my TRRRUUUCK"
"Why are you flashing your hi-beams behind me? Is that some sort of safty feature?"

Even old farts know this car is SAFE. Have you ever driven down an expressway at xxx speed knowing that only a thin skin of aluminum and "cardboard backing" are all that's between you and the outside of the car door. After an MGA this thing is a TANK!
