Default Out of state s2ooo

Hello, I'm going to need anybody &/or everybody's advice, input, 2 cents with this topic. I'm currently located in Chicago & cannot seem to find any white (championship white, pearl white, etc) with all red or red/black interior. Are they that rare? Looking for a 2oo6. I however, have found many other s2k of my specs in other states, via craigslist. If it comes down to it, I will just purchase one from out of state but I don't know the process I'd have to go through. Will someone please answer my following questions and add other pointers & tips to me please. They will greatly be appreciated. Thanks.

1) I haven't test drove the car, how would I really know it's in good running condition?
2) What type of paper works do I have to fill up/sign?
3) How would the transaction work? I don't want to risk someone doing me grimey taking my money & not shipping the car over.
4) What if the car really DO arrive but I've been completely lied to =[ ( ex: pictures include i/h/e/etc etc but ends up being taken off before shipping )
5) How can I prevent from being fooled!??!?!?

PLEASE HELP!!!!

Find one you like and fly there and check it out in person and drive it home. Easiest way to do it.

First off, you might want to research a bit more within s2ki.com about the various years and the differences between them.

There is no pearl white or championship white. All model years had grand prix white available (if I remember correctly). Depending on the year, the interior colors ranged from black, tan, red, red/black, and in the CR, they were completely different. '06, if I recall, was when the switched to black.

Check the classified section in s2ki and you can probably find some good quality cars that are available. Once you identify a car, find someone local to see if they know anything about the car. From there, start with carfax. If everything still looks good, go out and see the car. The worst you can do is lose the cost to go see the car.

Happy hunting
My $.02.

Pay an inspection service.

This varies by state. Check with your state's DMV or someone from your state. You'll probably need a bill of sale. If there's a lien on the car you'll need a release (or whatever it's called) letter from the lien holder.

Not sure about these. Mine was stock and purchased via ebay with whatever purchase protection they offer and I was lucky enough to deal with a totally legit seller.

What would you rather have happen, fly down there and realize it is not what was advertised or have it shipped to you after paying and realize it??
Find one you like, check the vin for any accidents, maybe find a mechanic close to where the car is located to give it a once over and then if all is good either fly down and pick it up or pay a transport company to delivery it to you.

+1000 Never, Never have a car shipped! 50% of sellers who want to ship the car are scammers! :suprised:

I'm in California, and it took me FOREVER to find my 2000 gpw/red/black. I just kept broadening searches online, and ended up with any distance. Found it in a small town in New Mexico, called him up, flew out there, drove it home. Couldn't be happier

1) Find your desired color combo
2) Call dealer/seller to verify information and condition, ask for high-res pictures
3) If everything sounds right then fly to car
4) Test Drive and inspect, if need be schedule time with a local mechanic to inspect car
5) Drive vehicle home on the best road trip of your life

These are the steps I used to find my s2k, I searched on/off for approx 6 months until I found the right color and deal. Patience is key as well as plenty of questions.
