Hey guys, just got in from a after party. It's 5am here and I had over heard some guys from Canadian Driver magazine talking about the s2000 being over and not being replaced just like Toyota did with its sports cars. After hearing this I had to talk to them being a s2k owner. Basically they said that they know for a fact that ppl r buying low km s2k's with clean titles all original and storing them away to only be put up for auction down the road. Does everybody know about this? and if so for how long lol? If so I have missed the boat as I passed up some brand new s2000's for very cheap money due to this recession...should I buy a low k s2k and store it for 20years?

 

lol ? old news. investing in stocks (no matter how bad it looks) will give you mcuh more return (probably) than investing in a s2k and keeping it for 20years. just my2cents

 

so y are all these ppl doing it? well actually probably having a nice rare car that gets rarer by the year due to ppl driving and crashing them and honda not making them anymore would make me wanna put one in one of my garages to just have and look at and know the value would be increasing and the demand rising, so I guess I answered my own question, I think I'm going to keep an eye out for a low k original s2k. It would be cool to have one brand new 20 years from now don't u guys?

 

It would be cool to have one brand new 20 years from now. However, 20 years from now, you'd probably be able to buy a more powerful, better handling Honda, maybe at a cheaper price... Think S600 vs. S2000.

I guess it depends on what you like. I don't like to collect cars. I like to drive them.

Yes, a lot of people are buying up all the used mint S2000s. That combined with noobs wrecking the used ones they bought is contributing to drive the resale of these cars through the roof. Have you ever seen the crazy resale of the NSX? That's what's going to happen to the S2000. So do whatever it takes to buy and store these babies away, 19% APR credit cards, 2nd mortgage, whatever!

Oh wait, my bad. You said Canada. Nevermind.

 

It's your judgement call to make. As has already been stated, if you're doing it as an investment it's not a good idea as you're going to be maintaining a depreciating liability for many years. If you're a car collector then why not?

 

Can you imagine having an S2K for 20 years and not driving it . I couldn't. I don't put a lot of miles on my car and keep it very well maintaned but that just sounds wrong. I bought it to drive it not as an investment. Just think of all of the fun you won't be having for the next 20 years that I will

I dont think if you did store it for 20 years it would be worth enough to retire on anyway. There are also issues with storing a car for that long. There would need to be a lot of maintenance done because you aren't driving it.

I am sure some wont agree, but for me I say drive the damn thing that is what it is made for. It would seem like a shame not too.

These cars are NOT rare and I don't see the prices of them jumping through the roof. The NSX was low-production, exotic looking, and mid-engined. The S2000 is none of that.

 

The CR is the only S that has any possibility of becoming a classic. Super low numbers, special edition, etc. People won't care that it doesn't have a soft top in 30 years when they're garage queens.
