Default Over Rev... 4th to 3rd at 80 miles...

Well, the title says it all...

I was at 80 miles in 4th gear and I downshifted to 3rd instead of 5th... RPM Jumped up and I immedately put the gear in Neutral...

I feel pretty stupid right now but should I be concerned at all?

I did a quick search and it seems like it is ok to REV 3rd upto 90 miles... In that case, I guess I am ok... since I downshifted to 3rd at 80...

Does AP1 or AP2 make any sort of difference? The chart I've found was for AP1...

Car seems fine but as I did my research, the problem could come way later so...

What do you think guys?

Any info is appreciated

all i hear is a cracked retainer might bite you in the ass later on but is that just for the AP1?

You're fine. I had this happen to me while my eye was on the tachometer and it was literally one bar before redline.

It's actually easier than most people may think to mis-shift from 4th to 3rd. I did it a number of times. Sometimes 5th is a bit PITA to get into and there appears to be something blocking the gate. Luckily only happens when cold and I haven't try VTEC-ing on 4th gear

According to my calculations, 3rd gear should redline at around 97 miles per hour based on the following:

Stock AP2 tire diameter (based on 245/40-17)
3rd Gear ratio 1.481
Final Drive ratio 4.10

Using the speed in gear calculator at http://www.kabamus.com/garage/gears.html
and at http://precisionsite.com/auto-x/tools/

Unless you slip it into third at close to 100 mph you have no worries. you did not come close to overreving the engine. In fact at 80 mph in third you were barely into vtec at around 6700-6800 rpm. (Of course the superior AP1 can be safely revved to almost 110 in third. )

Momo anatomic shift knob. It's not round so you know exactly what gear you're pulling into.
