I'm sitting in an outdoor bar along the ocean with a Mercedes SL600 parked out in front, in full view of all the patrons. Much to my surprsise none of the bar patrons or passersby are paying the Mercedes any attention. An S2000 pulls up and parks. Several people are overheard oohing and aahing, saying how beautiful it is and wondering what kind car it is. You gotta love it.

Yeah, like all Z-cars except perhaps the 1970 240Z, they got stylistically 'Old" very fast, plus you see so many of them, there is the "ho-hum" factor.

The S2000 is the best Japanese design since the Toyota S2000 - the Lexi are not ageless: the first LS was a Japanese knock-off of an 80's Mercedes, the GS400 had that bloated lima bean look that nearly every sedan of the era had, the ES was a Camry with JC Whitney add-ons, etc.

Maybe the original Land Cruiser qualifies, as it was distinctive, and had that cool curved side/rear window.

The S2000 is a gem, no doubt about it. I think in 20 years it will still be an ooh and ahh car, when our children's children are in that bar, and one pulls up - I feel old thinking about it - need the S2000 to be my Fountain of Youth.

the third-Gen RX-7 and NSX I think are even more timeless than the S2000. the RX is just as beautiful to me as the first day I saw it, and the NSX has that exotic look and aura. The S2000 is up there with them, but those are even more classic (partly because they've withstood the test of more time than the S2000's design.)

The 2 best looking Japanese cars imo. They perform pretty well, too.
