Owners Manual
I just purchased a new S2000. I am very happy with the car but what is with the owners manual. I was expecting a nice leather (like?) holder for the manual and papers but nothing. The manual with a quick start guide and warranty book were stuffed in the net pocket on the transmission tunnel. I also noticed that this new car does not have the typical new car smell. Are all new S2000's like this? Thanks!
"Brand new", like in an '06? Your profile states you have an '00.
If you bought a "brand new" S from the dealer, you should have gotten an owner's manual container, along with warranty info, the business cards of every key staff member in the place, your radio code on a plasticized card. I'm not sure it's made out of leather, but you should have gotten something.

It is actually a brand new 2004. Thanks for the info. I will contact my dealer and ask about a folder. I am also used to receiving some sort of delivery checklist, that denotes each area of the car that was checked prior to delivery and who checked it.
Well, my owners manual came in a plastic zip lock bag. As far as "new car smell" goes: The car is probably at least a year and a half and up to 2 years old by now and hopefully, for your health, that new car smell we all love is just about gone. That smell is caused by offgassing of all the various plastics, adhesives, paints, sealers, carpet, etc. that are used to build your new car and they are known health hazards and carcinogenic. There is a push on to reduce these VOC's (volatile organic compounds).
You definitely should have received a pre-delivery checklist. Two things really stand out on this car.
The tires ship with about 40 to 45 psi of air and they should be reduced to 32 psi.
Also, there are 14 spacers inserted into the springs that MUST be removed. If left in they will seriously affect handling and can even be dangerous in emergency situations.
