Default Padding for the driver's side armrest?

This has not been a problem in my other cars but because of my driving position in the S I'm really digging my elbow into the armrest. I know it sounds silly but if I drive the S a good deal my elbow actually gets pretty sore and I can see where Im wearing out the armrest.

Im looking for a way to pad the armrest. I can get some foam rubber gasket material from work that is good for this. I use it for padding as a shoe insert and for a bunch of other projects. Its sticky on one side so it will stay in place. But Im assuming that the glue will ruin the upholstery that I stick it to and its gonna look like ass in any case.

Has anyone else had this problem and tried to do something about it?

Please dont say change my driving position, Ive been trying that and its not working.

I have the exact same problem, but I've yet to find a good solution so I'm kinda interested to see where this goes.

Are you guys talking about the door or the tranny tunnel? I'm trying to understand where your discomfort is. Maybe a picture, guys?

If it's the center console, doesn't Rick's make leather replacement parts for that? Do you guys still have the carpeting on the tunnel (is that what you're wearing out)?

If your talkin about the arm rest for your right arm, some people awhile back actually put more stuffing under that arm rest to give it more comfort.

I think hes talking about the armrest on the door. I have the same problem. The armrest is covered with a pad, but beneath that its just hard metal/plastic/whatever. After extended periods my elbow can get pretty sore too.. I haven't thought of a solution yet, and I would be interested to see what someone has rigged up.. I might just tape on a little pillow

I bet if you could get under it, between the plastic and the padding, you could insert some more padding... When you call TempurPedic's 800 # they send you a video and a free sample of their foam material. It could be shaped to fit in there, chances are.

Its the armrest on the drivers side door.

I had thought about velcroing a pad on there. Usually the glue on velcro strips is pretty forgiving and probably wouldnt leave a permanent mark on the upholstery. Id like to come up with a better solution.

Adding padding under the upholstery is an excellent idea but is it possible? Anyone here taken the door apart and looked at that area?

One of my spring projects is to install Chipperman's Sound Deadening Kit. So I will be taking the doors apart and can take a look.

I think the door panel comes off in one piece, but I wouldn't swear to it. You might have to do some surgery to slide in some more padding.

Cool

Maybe put on some lotion on your arm if you wear a T-shirt, and try not to wear outdoor/snowboarding jackets when you drive?
