Default Painted Brake Calipers...Experience and pics

Well, I decided to paint my brake calipers this weekend. My car only has 1500 miles on it so they weren't too dirty. I jacked the car up on four jackstands and took the wheels off. I left the calipers on the car. I do not think that you need to take them off, unless you are expereiced at removing them and you want to paint the entire caliper thouroughly. I cleaned them off and then painted them using about 4 coats of Plasti-Cote Red Brake Caliper paint that I bought at Pep Boys for $5.99. I let them dry and put my car back together. IMO, they came out great. I love the new look it gave to my car. Here are some picture for your enjoyment.

Thanks,
-Brandon

They look great. Were you able to take all four wheels off at one time? It looks like you did a really nice job.

Thanks! Yes I was. I had to do it in a weird way with a couple of jacks and four jackstands, but it all worked out!

that looks fantastic. you'll have to keep us updated and let us know how it works out over the long run. i really want to do this to mine, but i am concerned about the paint fading and/or cracking due to high temperatures.

again, great job. let us know what you think in a few months.

Is that a spray paint or a brush on paint? Is the finish pretty smooth and shinny?

LOOKS GREAT, BUT YOU SHOULD HAVE HAD THEM POWDER COATED. PAINT WILL NOT LAST. IF YOU WANT MORE INFO ON THIS PROCEEDURE, I WILL BE HAPPY TO HELP. I OWN A COMPANY THAT DOES THIS FOR EXOTIC CARS. JOE

If you plan on tracking the car say goodbye to the paint.

I love the look of painted calipers. It adds a lot for so little. I did mine 2 at a time front then rear.

I painted my M3's calipers with GM Blue engine paint and 7 years (and several track days) later, its still there. Just use heat resistant paint! Of course, powdercoating would be the best way to go, but also pricey.
