Default painted calipers

If I brought my car to a performance shop or something like that to have my calipers painted, about how much do you think they will charge me? Thanks

100 bucks seems like a pretty good deal.

Eric, just do it yourself. I did it recently and I'm a total car wimp.

What exactly is powder coating? I guess it differs from painting in some way?

"Powder coating is a dry finishing process, using finely ground particles of pigment and resin which are electrostatically charged and sprayed onto a part to be coated. The parts to be coated are electrostatically grounded so that the charged powder particles projected at them adhere to the parts and are held there until melted and fused into a smooth coating in the curing oven. The result is a uniform, durable, high quality finish that is also environmentally friendly."

"Powder Coating Benefits vs. Wet Painting
Superior scratch resistance
Higher quality finish
Superior chemical resistance
Greater durability
Safer for health and environment
Textured finishes available"

I'm also under the impression that it can withstand higher temperatures. This a a major concern with the brake calipers, and would be my main reason for powdercoating instead of painting them. Try a forum search. I hear some caliper paints don't do too well if you track your car.

Thanks! Great description.

I was hoping to be able to do it myself, but it doesn't look like it.

Very expensive to powder coat yourself. You will need to buy a kit and a seperate oven or special light. Painting is a simple process than anybody with time, patience, jack and jack stands can do.

I just don't know how well painting will hold up to the high brake temps..
