Painted plastic part of rear bumper

I think it's because smoke from exhaust would pottentially ruin a clearcoat...If that part is black, then soot is barely noticeable.

I had big CompTech pipes coming out the rear of the white '03 CL-S that I traded and didn't have a problem with the white areas of the bumper.

I'm one of the few that prefer black but that is probably because my car is an excercise
in black n' blue contrast. To me, when you paint the rear it highlights the line
at the top of the fascia and makes it look unfinished, like it was planted there as
an aftermarket piece. If the piece was somehow merged into the rest of the body, I'd
probably like it better. When it's black, those edges are hidden and all you see is a
black piece and body color.
