Angry Painting vs Powder Coating...

i recently got my car painted jdm white pearl.. i want to get my wheels painted/powdercoated white and the local body shop said they could sand and paint and clear my stock wheels.. would this be better than powdercoating??
Also those with white wheels or previous experience how easy are they to keep clean .. do they fade, etc?

Thanks!

If I'm correct, powdercoating is baking the paint on. That would be best.

Not exactly correct.

Powder coat is a far more durrable finish than paint. It is a powdered material that is generally adheard with electromagnets, then baked so it melts and cleanly covers the part.

The advantage of paint is that the color is far easier to match to something else.

You may have trouble color matching white powder coat to white paint.

Personally, I am not a fan of white wheels, but if you makes YOU happy, go for it.

How Durable would it be prof. sand, painted( multiple coats) and cleared. How acceptable will it be to chipping, etc? Thanks for all the help!

powder coating will last lot more than painting, paint will be affected by heat(esp. on light color, they fade to a lighter shade and less grossly over time)

i would powder coat the rims if you are shooting for white color, you can't use alot of cleaner on painted surface

Powdercoating is the way to go. More durable, not much difference in price.

I agree. The quality of paint isn't so much as how many coats are applied, but the prep work. You'll be paying a ton of labor to have it done correctly. Plus, the paint will chip off from yahoo techs banging their impact sockets on it and from mounting and dismounting tires. Powdercoat is almost bulletproof. Make sure you get some UV treated color.
