Default Parked in public, top up or down?

I always wanted to own a convertible and will someday. My question is, when you go out and park the car out of YOUR sight, do you put the top back up or leave it down (ie. parked in a busy street or downtown during the day)?

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that you should put the top up while parked at night or in underground parking lots (places with low light and low traffic).

when I park any where I usually park with the top up, unless my car is in site. You can call me paranoid but I don't trust any neighborhood.

Top up every time, even in the garage. I only leave the top down when the car is in site (ie. Starbucks).

It doesn't take that long to put the top up and down, so the 10 seconds is worth the piece of mind alone...you could always raise the top without latching, if you are only going to be away for a little bit....that should save another 5 seconds...

Unfortunately, leaving one's top down in this day and age is like dangling a baited hook before some members of our society. The top down to them is interpreted as an opportunity to use your car for a trash can or worse.

Take the 10 seconds required to put the top back up.

Good thread...

I usually leave the top up. You can never be sure about the people. Occasionally I've left the top down, but after installing a new stereo, it's up all the time.

Always down - sometimes to my detriment as it has rained whilst I have been away.

IN a good neighborhood I will leave the top down if I will only be inside for a short amount of time. If I am in a bad neighborhood or inside for a while I will leave the top up.
