Default Parking Sensor

The long hood and low front lip makes it difficult to get close to a curb without hitting it. I'm considering installing a parking sensor system like this http://pyleaudio.com/itemdetail.asp?brand=...ms&model=PLPSE6Pyle Parking Sensor. Anyone have any experience with these?

Too much money for something like that. Why not just a "curb feeler" jutting out 3-4 inches from the middle underside of your bumper. These would probably sell for under $5 a pair.

They look like stubby heavy duty screen door springs. Check at your local truck stop or parts store.

Now you got me. You might recall seeing these on 50'-60's sedans and were used to signal the driver the location of the curb when paralell parking. It was just a chrome wire connected to the fender which gave off a very audible scraping sound on contact. A junk yard maybe, but you could probably just as easy fabricate from an old whip anntaena or something simular.

When is the last time you saw a set of curb feelers on a car?
