Default Passenger and vtec feel?

Today it seemed like my vtec engagement was pretty weak, even though it was a cool day. I had a passenger, he is roughly 220lbs or so. How much of a factor is having a passenger and vtec feel? and acceleration.

When I had a lady passenger of <95lbs vtec felt fine and that was on a warmer day too.

I would say that a 220 lb passenger is a heafty load. it only works out to be about 8% weight addition based on your car's 2700 pound curb weight. . I am not surprised. I see it as 153 lb/ft of torque trying to push 370-380 lbs around (assuming that you weigh around 150 lbs.)

I sometimes find on cold or damp days that I don't feel the vtec push. Then I get paranoid and go and find a quiet road to see if it is working. Usually I feel a smaller push than I am expecting. Then I go out a few days later and I get that comforting feeling of being pushed back!

I don't know vtec x-over is very dependent on throttle, ambient temps, and weight.

I agree - some days it doesn't feel like VTEC is there. I learned to give it a day or so, it would return. And like swells65, I do the same thing - find a deserted road to test it on! LOL
