I'm not really good at installing things. Can my honda dealer hardwire my s2k with the V1? Thanks

Your dealer will have no trouble with the install. The BEST install, I think, is under the windshield frame trim. Look at Loki's pics and mine. Loki's install is great too and doesn't involve removing the trim.

Mine is installed to go on and off with the ignition, but I'm thinking of changing that to always on. I don't think it draws too much juice. The problem with installing it with the ignition is that you have to listen to the power-up beeps twice, once when you turn the key to light the dash, and once after you press the start button. If you install it to be always on, you avoid all that busy noise, at the cost of some drain on the battery.

Another advantage of wiring it to be always on is that if you park near some door opener x emissions, you've got a constant beeping while parked. I think THAT would discourage some thiefs, but perhaps attract others.

Thanks Barry, I already installed it though. Under the trim and ran in to a wire under the switch. It works great, the only sign is a 3 inch piece of wire hanging from under the trim, which I haven't quite decided what to do with yet, but its not too obnoxious. It took about an hour total, the hardest part was locating a wire that was controlled by the switch. I guessed a couple of times then finally went and got my test light. Anyway I wouldn't recommend someone try it who isn't familier with cars, it would be real easy to mess up your trim or worse.

I to was annoyed by listening to the Power-up Beeps twice when wired to the ignition, so I wired a diode and capacitor across the Direct Wire Adapter. Now the voltage drop from the starter does not affect the V1.

Any interest in posting this as a FAQ on S2KI.COM?

Yes please. I'd like the details too. I'm not adept at calculating the appropriate resistance/capacitance; but I'd take a crack at soldering up the fix. I assume the capacitor and resistor are in series with each other and parallel to the power adapter and that polarity doesn't matter.

I will post pictures/diagrams tonight.

Yes the resistor and capacitor are parallel to the power adapter, but the diode is in series to them all. Polarity does matter. I guessed at the resistance (10ohm) and capacitance (3500-4400 microfarad).
