Peeps That Have Gone From AP2 to AP1
Looking at getting another S soon; I've seen some good deals on 02's and 03's but I really like the '04 I had. I've never driven an AP1.
Did you regret making the change? Does the car feel "raw" as many have said? How about the handling, i.e. control around twisties, turns - trickier?
Is 9000 rpm too damn noisy?

Frankly, unless you're pushing the car in an autocross or other track event, you will hardly notice. The 9k is nice in auto-x to avoid upshifts and the torque on the AP2 is nicer on exits, but many of these fine differences will hardly be noticed.
The twitchier rear on AP1 is more noticeable, again, in auto-x. However, this tendency can be easily rectified.

Take one for a test drive, and see how different they feel for yourself.
No amount of posting on an internet forum will take the place for some quality seat time by yourself
. If you were coming from a different car, the AP1/AP2 differences might not be noticable. But coming from an AP2, some things should be apparent.
Whether or not they're acceptable to you is your call
